Warren Taylor was born in Bedford County, Tennessee in 1903. He received the B.A. degree in 1924 and the M.A. degree in 1926 from Vanderbilt University in Nashville. He served as Instructor at the University of Tennessee from 1926 to 1929 and in 1930 moved to the University of Chicago to undertake graduate work in English literature, receiving the Ph.
